The Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant was one of the most attended and popular events each year throughout the Lehigh Valley area. However, pageant officials recently announced that it was moving the festivities to the Pittsburgh area after being in the Valley for 15 years.
The Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant, which will be held this year from June 24 to June 27, is taking place in Cheswick, PA. That’s just a few miles outside of Pittsburgh. Mary Mannix Meister, a business manager in charge of the pageant, said it just made sense to move it there since many of the board members lived in Pittsburgh. Also, the recent deaths of several board members “brought about a number of unexpected changes.”
Last year, Kendra Perry, 23, won the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant held in the auditorium of Nazareth Area High School. Shannon Doyle of Wilkes-Barre won runner-up.
