When you visit your Doylestown area Toyota dealer in a few years, you may notice a new sports car model on the lot. That’s because the President and Chief Executive – Akio Toyoda – is looking for a way to create a new sports car under the automaker’s badge in order to attract younger buyers to the lots.
The automaker announced earlier this month that it wants to create and produce a “fun to drive” sports car that is also affordable. In addition, Toyota is also planning to bring the Lexus LF-A back to the United States market.
It may come as no surprise to some that Mr. Toyoda is interested in seeing more sports cars on the automaker’s lots. In case you didn’t know, he is an amateur race-car driver himself. “I am very excited about [the new plans] and I plan to put it on the fast track,” he said at an industry conference in Michigan. “Along with my hope for getting Toyota back on track, I believe the U.S. market will not only recover, but come back stronger than ever,” he went on to say.
