Auto detailing is an important process, both for cars that are on the lot at your local Pontiac dealer, as well as your vehicle. Detailing keeps a vehicle looking its best, and helps to preserve the body work. While there isn’t a specific definition for what constitutes “detailing,” there are some general steps that most auto detailers follow.
Detailing usually involved beautifying and protecting your vehicle. In some cases, it may also include minor repairs to the paint or surface restoration. It may also include cleaning areas that are often ignored, such as the trim, tires, wheels, underchassis, and engine.
A detailing generally consists of the following steps: wash, dry, clay bar, wash again, polish, glaze, sealant, wax. Each has its own purpose. The clay bar, for example, helps to get rid of paint contamination. The polish removes swirls, scratches, oxidation, and water deposits on the paint. The sealant helps to provide durability to the car’s body. Wax adds some protection, as well, but was is more to add to the gloss and the depth of the paint.
