Toyota Dealer Offers Tips on Preventive Vehicle Maintenance

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

If you’ve ever heard that adage, you know how important preventive car maintenance is for your vehicle. Unfortunately, many drivers forego regular maintenance because they are either too busy or they can’t afford to have some of these procedures done. As a result, they often end up paying for more costly damages. To avoid having this happen to you, hear are a few basic things you should do to your car before you have a problem.

Oil Changes
Everybody knows about oil changes, but not everybody has them done regularly. Clean oil is essential for keeping your engine running properly and efficiently. Today, cars only need oil changes every 5,000-10,000 miles, but check with your owner’s manual and follow what your car’s manufacturer recommends.

Transmission Care
To keep your transmission running in tip-top condition, a preventive flush of the transmission fluid is needed. Have a mechanic do this about every two years or 24,000 miles to ensure your transmission fluid is clean and keeping all the parts lubricated.

Cooling System
Your car’s cooling system is a vital part of your vehicle. Your cooling system could fail and damage your engine within a matter of minutes. That’s why it’s so important to keep an eye on it and make sure you have its condition checked every six months. Also, make sure the coolant level is where it’s supposed to be every couple weeks to ensure you don’t have any leaks.

Pennsylvania Used Car Dealer Recommends Car History Report

Your Pennsylvania used car dealer knows that buying a used car can feel like a gamble. They also know that one of the best things you can do to minimize your risk when buying a used car is to get a used car history report. Services like CARFAX offer consumers a full report on a vehicle’s history, letting you buy with confidence and weed out many potentially problematic used cars from your list.

A used car report will tell you how many owners the vehicle has had. It will tell you what the odometer readings were when the car was sold. It can tell you if the vehicle has underwent a recall. It can tell you if the vehicle has been in an accident, and if it is considered “salvaged.” It can even tell you if a vehicle has been in a flood, or of it has previously been reported as a “lemon.”

You can get a used car history report from a variety of sources, too. Sometimes, a used car dealership may be able to provide you with a used car history report. If not, you may be able to get a report for yourself by just getting the vehicle’s VIN number. Some of the reporting services, such as CARFAX, will allow unlimited reports for a given period of time, allowing you to check not only one particular used car, but any number of used cars you might be considering.

In addition, you should always shop for used cars at reputable dealers, such as your local Pontiac dealer. When you combine a trustworthy dealer with a car history report, you can be confident that you’re getting a quality used vehicle.

More about the Toyota Venza from Your Pennsylvania Dealers

We’ve written about the new Toyota Venza before, but your Pennsylvania dealers want to tout its praises even more. Who can blame them, though? The Toyota Venza is one of the more exciting vehicles to hit the market in recent years. Here are some things you may or may not have known about this new model that’s sure to create a buzz this season.

• When engineers developed the Venza, they focused on creating a crossover that didn’t look like the other SUVs on the market. They used more of a wide sedan concept with a comfortable interior and sporty exterior combined with plentiful cargo space, AWD performance and even towing capabilities.
• The Venza is designed in such a way that allows occupants to get in and out easier than they can in a sedan. A lower rocker design and higher ride height help accomplish this goal.
• Rear seats in the Venza recline up to 14 degrees for optimum comfort without using up too much space.
• Some great features on the Toyota Venza include auto dual-zone air conditioning, tilt steering wheel with audio controls at the reach of your fingertips, remote keyless entry, cruise control and so much more.

Web Site Matches Women With The Best GMC, Pontiac, Or Buick

The Internet has opened up all sorts of possibilities. Today, a woman looking to buy a new car no longer has to deal with much of the angst and frustration that has, in the past, accompanied the car buying process. There is a new website that proposes to match a woman with the best car for her.

The site CarTango, which will match a woman with a GMC, Pontiac, Buick, or any other car, based on her taste, lifestyle, and desires. According to their website, it is a place where “girl meets car” and where “your car soulmate is just a few clicks away.

CarTango relies on a four-step process to match woman and car:

  1. First, CarTango uses a series of questions to understand the woman’s personality, needs and style.
  2. From there, CarTango searches through dealer inventory listings.
  3. They then communicate with those car dealers about the vehicles they’ve got for sale.
  4. Finally, they invite dealerships to compete for the woman’s business. Up to three car dealers can compete for each woman’s business.

CarTango appeals to some women in that it removes some of the barriers women have typically faced when it comes to car buying.  Critics claim that CarTango plays on the fears of women, and that it actually perpetuates the kind of behavior that it claims to be avoiding. In addition, it makes all sorts of assumptions about what women do or don’t know about cars, or what they are or aren’t looking for based on a very few relatively superficial questions.

If you’ve been matched with a specific type of Pontiac on CarTango come on over to our Pontaic dealer today and check one out in person.

PA Car Dealers Ask: Should Teen Drivers Post Decals?

This story takes place a long way from your PA car dealers, but it could come true across the nation if it’s popular in Colorado.

A state lawmaker wants to make it mandatory for teenagers to place a decal on the car they are driving so other drivers know they are not experienced behind the wheel. Surprisingly, the suggestion came from a senior in high school who simply wanted to do something to make teen drivers feel safer when more experienced drivers are near them on the roads.

“We’re not as experienced as other drivers, and older drivers sometimes can get very angry with our driving and it kind of causes some road rage,” said J.R. Lopez, the student who suggested the idea. He said a multi-color triangular decal would let others know that they should be patient and courteous to the newer drivers.

The idea has taken effect in other countries and Representative Randy Fischer is sponsoring the bill in Colorado. “This s something we ought to try at least to see if there is a reduction in accidents, and part of the bill would be to have the Department of Public Safety collect records on accident rates with young drivers with these decals,” Fischer said. Some are opposed to the idea, though, saying there are already enough laws protecting new drivers.

One thing is for sure. Your local Toyota dealer is concerned about your teenage driver’s safety. We have a variety of new and used cars with the latest safety features to ensure everybody stays as safe as possible on the road.

Keeping Your GMC, Pontiac, Or Buick Clean

At your local GMC Pontiac Buick dealer, we know you want to protect your investment. Your car has to last you, and you want it to be in the best shape it can possibly be in.

One of the best ways to keep your car in tip-top shape is to keep it clean. Given the amount of time that most people spend in their vehicle, keeping it clean also can just help to liven up your daily routine.

Here are some things you can do to clean the interior of your car:

  • Vaccum all of your seats regularly. Get inside the crack as much as you can. If you use a household vacuum, try to use one with a hoes so you can get down into those spots.
  • If you have stains, use a carpaet cleaner to try to get the stains up.
  • If you have vinyl seats, wipe them down with a vinyl cleaner and use a vinyl protectant from time to time.
  • For leather seats, follow your car manufacturer’s directions. Use leather cleaner, and leather conditioner if appropriate.
  • Clean your windows with regular window cleaner and microfiber or lint free cloths.

If you’re looking for a new vehicle, come see your local Pontiac dealer today. We’ve got a clean car with your name on it.

Reviewing the RAV4 Available at Your Local Toyota Dealer

When you visit your local Toyota dealer, don’t forget to take the 2008 RAV4 for a test drive. I drove one of these vehicles for a drive across the country earlier this year and it was one of the most comfortable drives I’ve ever enjoyed. Here are some things to look for with the 2008 RAV4 so you can enjoy driving again, too.

For one thing, the 2008 RAV4 was incredibly spacious on the inside. I’m 6’3″ and had no problem stretching out in the driver’s seat without being crunched up on the steering wheel. The back area was nice, too. I was moving some stuff from Michigan to California and with the folded down seats, I was able to fit 16 boxes measuring 12x12x12 in the back with room for more stuff. That’s not bad for a vehicle that’s considered a small SUV!

The model I drove had a V6 engine. As such, it did extremely well on fuel. It also had great handling for an SUV. The road noise was kept out so I could enjoy the radio without blasting it through the speakers.

These are just a few of the positive things I noticed when I drove the RAV4. You might notice a lot more positive aspects of this small SUV when you visit your local Toyota dealer. Try one today and see what I mean!

PA Auto Dealers Talk Tires

At your local Pontiac dealer, we believe that tire maintenance is one of the most important parts of your car care. Your tires get you where you want to go, and keeping them in tip-top shape is both safe and practical.

Your tires aren’t intended to last for the entire life of your vehicle. Your tires take a beating, day in and day out. They have to be flexible, and they have to be able to take whatever the road might throw at them.

Here in PA, we tend to have some harsh winter weather conditions. For this reason, you might consider purchasing some winter tires. Winter or “snow tires” help you to stay in control of the vehicle on snowy and slippery roads. They reduce your gas mileage, so they aren’t especially good for summertime driving, and should be changed out for seasonal tires in the spring.

Still, you don’t always have to replace all of your tires at the same time. For example, if you have a blowout, it is perfectly all right ot replace just the tire that had the flat, assuming that the rest of the tires are still in good shape. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that you’ll want to replace the tire with the exact same brand and size as your other tires. If the exact tire isn’t available, your mechanic or tire repair specialist may be able to help you find a tire that’s very similar.

The same applies with replacing two tires. Sometimes, you might find that your front tires tend to wear out more quickly than your rear tires. In that case, make sure to replace those tires with the same brand, or with a tire that closely matches the ones you currently have.

Daring Toyota Designs: From Paris, France to Pennsylvania Dealers

Toyota is featuring three new daring designs at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, but it’s even more exciting that those models may be at your local Pennsylvania dealers before you know it.

The three new designs are already “production ready,” meaning that they are not just concept cars. Toyota is ready to start producing them at any time. One such model – the Toyota Avensis – is going to be the centerpiece of the automaker’s stage at the Paris Motor Show during the first week of October. The new Avensis is going to be sleeker than the previous model and it will look much like today’s Corolla.

In addition to the Avensis, the IQ city car and the Urban Cruiser will make a stunning appearance. The IQ city car is a small car that has airbags all around it for increased safety. The encompassing airbags are an industry first, according to Toyota. The Urban Cruiser is a compact SUV with all-wheel drive capabilities and a “rugged exterior design.” Both cars were introduced earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Show.

As you can see, there are some exciting things happening at your local Toyota dealer. It might be a few years before these models make their way to the Pennsylvania dealers near you, but there are still many exciting models currently available in their inventory today. Check one out and see what you’ve been missing!
