The Internet has opened up all sorts of possibilities. Today, a woman looking to buy a new car no longer has to deal with much of the angst and frustration that has, in the past, accompanied the car buying process. There is a new website that proposes to match a woman with the best car for her.

The site CarTango, which will match a woman with a GMC, Pontiac, Buick, or any other car, based on her taste, lifestyle, and desires. According to their website, it is a place where “girl meets car” and where “your car soulmate is just a few clicks away.

CarTango relies on a four-step process to match woman and car:

1. First, CarTango uses a series of questions to understand the woman’s personality, needs and style.
2. From there, CarTango searches through dealer inventory listings.
3. They then communicate with those car dealers about the vehicles they’ve got for sale.
4. Finally, they invite dealerships to compete for the woman’s business. Up to three car dealers can compete for each woman’s business.

CarTango appeals to some women in that it removes some of the barriers women have typically faced when it comes to car buying.  Critics claim that CarTango plays on the fears of women, and that it actually perpetuates the kind of behavior that it claims to be avoiding. In addition, it makes all sorts of assumptions about what women do or don’t know about cars, or what they are or aren’t looking for based on a very few relatively superficial questions.

This story takes place a long way from your PA car dealers, but it could come true across the nation if it’s popular in Colorado.

A state lawmaker wants to make it mandatory for teenagers to place a decal on the car they are driving so other drivers know they are not experienced behind the wheel. Surprisingly, the suggestion came from a senior in high school who simply wanted to do something to make teen drivers feel safer when more experienced drivers are near them on the roads.

“We’re not as experienced as other drivers, and older drivers sometimes can get very angry with our driving and it kind of causes some road rage,” said J.R. Lopez, the student who suggested the idea. He said a multi-color triangular decal would let others know that they should be patient and courteous to the newer drivers.

The idea has taken effect in other countries and Representative Randy Fischer is sponsoring the bill in Colorado. “This s something we ought to try at least to see if there is a reduction in accidents, and part of the bill would be to have the Department of Public Safety collect records on accident rates with young drivers with these decals,” Fischer said. Some are opposed to the idea, though, saying there are already enough laws protecting new drivers.

When you visit your local Toyota dealer, don’t forget to take the 2008 RAV4 for a test drive. I drove one of these vehicles for a drive across the country earlier this year and it was one of the most comfortable drives I’ve ever enjoyed. Here are some things to look for with the 2008 RAV4 so you can enjoy driving again, too.

For one thing, the 2008 RAV4 was incredibly spacious on the inside. I’m 6’3″ and had no problem stretching out in the driver’s seat without being crunched up on the steering wheel. The back area was nice, too. I was moving some stuff from Michigan to California and with the folded down seats, I was able to fit 16 boxes measuring 12x12x12 in the back with room for more stuff. That’s not bad for a vehicle that’s considered a small SUV!

The model I drove had a V6 engine. As such, it did extremely well on fuel. It also had great handling for an SUV. The road noise was kept out so I could enjoy the radio without blasting it through the speakers.

Toyota is featuring three new daring designs at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, but it’s even more exciting that those models may be at your local Pennsylvania dealers before you know it.

The three new designs are already “production ready,” meaning that they are not just concept cars. Toyota is ready to start producing them at any time. One such model – the Toyota Avensis – is going to be the centerpiece of the automaker’s stage at the Paris Motor Show during the first week of October. The new Avensis is going to be sleeker than the previous model and it will look much like today’s Corolla.

In addition to the Avensis, the IQ city car and the Urban Cruiser will make a stunning appearance. The IQ city car is a small car that has airbags all around it for increased safety. The encompassing airbags are an industry first, according to Toyota. The Urban Cruiser is a compact SUV with all-wheel drive capabilities and a “rugged exterior design.” Both cars were introduced earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Show.
